Filter Elements (Cartridges)

One of the FASAM activities is the supply of filter elements (cartridges) intended for treatment of various process gases and liquids from dropping liquids and solid particles, aerosols and mechanical impurities. FASAM filter elements are engineered, designed, and manufactured, in a variety of medias, to provide the reliability and consistency in performance.This is necessary for the delivery of outstanding operating efficiency in a wide variety of filtration applications.

Based on the technical specification or the data sheet from the Customer, or the nomenclature of need for process equipment and replaceable filter elements, FASAM can assist in the following:

To choose the necessary filtration technology;

To calculate, choose and supply necessary type of filter element;

To design, manufacture and supply process equipment for the separation and filtration of various gaseous and liquids media.

Gas Filtration Elements

Fiberglass Filter Elements

FASAM’s CF series fiberglass elements are made of only the finest seamless fiberglass filter tubes and reinforced with phenolic resin. The fibers are specially compressed to the optimum density for the best possible filtration with the lowest pressure drop. These elements are suitable for wet and/or dry gas and air filtration service and coalesces fine mist into recoverable liquids as well as removing fine solid particles. We use a Polyester core wrap to prevent media migration, as fiberglass fibers are very abrasive. Normal flow direction for these elements is from outside-in. FASAM fiberglass elements are available in various dimensions and in 0.5 to 50 micron nominal particle removal ratings.

Liquid Coalescing Elements

FASAM’s exclusive series CFP coalescing elements are specially designed to coalesce extremely fine aerosol mists from natural gas, primarly lubricating oil downstream of a compressor. Series CFP is designed to be utilized in place of the CF series where it is desired to utilize the additional surface area and ultra efficiency for solids stage (through pleated paper) and the coalescence of liquid mists (through pleated micro-fiberglass). This additional surface area also reduces the differential pressure when flowing high flowrates.The CFP element is guaranteed to coalesce and remove 99.5% of all liquid droplets 0.3 micron and larger and 99.99% of all solid particles 0.3 micron and larger from gas streams. Flow direction through element is from inside-out which enhances the coalescing process via velocity-reduction.

Pleated Paper Filter Elements

FASAM makes series FP pleated paper filter elements from highly controlled resin impregnated cellulose. The media is pleated to provide a large filter area and dirt holding capacity. These elements deliver top performance in filtering refined hydrocarbon products such as lubricating oil, diesel, jet fuels, gasoline, and naphta as well as natural gas and natural gas products such as ethane, ethylene, propane, butane and hexane. They are available in 2, 5, 10, and 20 micron ratings in sizes.

Liquid Filtration Elements

Wound Filter Element

FASAM’s wound filter elements are designed to meet a wide range of filtration duties. They offer an economic, easily installed and maintained filtration system for the removal of particulate from liquid. Filter media is wound onto a support core to form precise and accurately tapered spiral passageways to form the depth filter matrix.
The board range of filter media; polypropylene, pre-rinsed polypropylene, cotton, fiberglass, polyester, nylon, and rayon used combined with a suited core guarantee high thermal and chemical compatibility with nearly any application where fine filtration is concerned.
ASAM’s wound filter elements range from 1 to 500 micron, allows for consistent and exact depth filtration. Elements are available in very flexible range of diameters and lengths to fit most applications. Applications for FASAM wound filter elements are:process and waste water treatment, drinking water treatment, beverages, vegtables oil, organic solvents, diluted acids, organic acids, alkalies, and other corrosive or high temperature services up to 400 °C.

Activated Carbon Filter Elements

FASAM’s activated carbon canisters elements are an effective and economical method of removing dissolved impurities from water, amines, glycols, and other process liquids. These impurities, if left in the solutions, can cause foaming, odor, and other process problems. The activated carbon used in FASAM elements is designed to adsorb liquid hydrocarbons, corrosion inhibitors, color bodies, and other dissolved organics. Our carbon has been specifically formulated to provide long service life and excellent solvent purification. Both radial and vertical flow models are available in a variety of sizes to fit all popular housing.FASAM activated carbon is also available in bulk form for use in fixed-bed adsorbers.

Phase Separator Elements

FASAM elements with three different types of repelling media are offered for a variety of services:

Teflon Coated Screen (TCS ) Cartridges are, by far, the most popular type of separator element with proper cleaning and inspection, cost effective TCS elements can be reused over many coalescer cartridge changeout cycles.

Pleated Paper elements cannot be reused and are replaced at every coalescer cartridge changeout when are using in liquid phase separator. They are often used with diesel and other fuel oils which may contain materials that adhere to TCS cartridges and cannot be cleaned off.

Synthetic Media Elements can be cleaned a maximum of two times. They are lower in price than TCS cartridges and are intended for customers who don’t want to take the time to clean separators.

Depth Filter Elements

FASAM depth type filter elements, are made from a special blend of natural and synthetic fibers selected for chemical compatibility, filtration efficiency, and dirt holding capacity and are among the most widely used elements for the filtration of process liquids, well completion fluids, process water, and lubricating oils. The filter mat produced by the exclusive FASAM process gives a uniform gradient density to the filter media that provides long life and high particulate retention capacity. These elements are available in nominal micron ratings ranging from 2 to 100 and a wide range of medias including:

Blend (FS)

Suitable for the filtration of a wide variety of liquids including water, lubricating oil, process fluids, engine fuels, quench oils, solvents, and process fluids. The composition is 60% cotton and 40% polyester.

Polypropylene (FY)

Suitable for the filtration of process fluids, salt water, solvents, boiler feed water, and water.

White Cotton (FN)

Used where the purity of the liquids to be filtered is of the utmost importance and no dyes or lubricants can be tolerated. Suitable for engine fuels, solvents, and process fluids.

Synthetic Elements

FASAM’s pleated synthetic filter elements are absolute rated and available in 100% polyester or polypropylene construction with a wide selection of gasket and O-ring materials. The pleated construction provides a large surface area for increased contaminate loading. End caps, media, cores and netting are all thermally bonded to provide a high degree of compatibility with a wide range of process fluids. Various micron ratings and lengths are available.

A board range of efficiencies with Beta ratios of 50 to 5000 provides the flexibility to address any application or upset condition. Application for FASAM synthetic pleated media elements are: gas processing liquids, injection water, solvents, acids, wet/dry gas, lube oils, water, boiler feed water and in food/beverage, coatings applications.
